Hello there,
If you’re reading this, it’s because:
- We’ve worked together on a book, business, or strategy
- You’ve downloaded something I made (like a canvas, playbook or checklist)
- Or you said something dangerously like, “I’ve been thinking about writing a book…”
In which case, welcome. You’re my kind of clever.
I’ve started this newsletter because most experts, consultants and quietly brilliant people are:
- Sitting on intellectual property they haven’t leveraged
- Wondering if they should write a book (or regretting the one they did)
- Not turning their ideas into assets that build their business
And I’m not having that.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This newsletter will show up most weeks and give you:
- Smart, contrarian strategy on publishing and asset-building
- Mini tools to help you simplify your offers, messages, and models
- Real stories from clients, launches, and my own misadventures
- Disaster Farm dispatches, featuring horses, chickens, a goose with attitude, and the occasional flood/drought scenario
- Timely invites to events, programs, and interesting things I’m building
Think: strategy disguised as a funny story.
Or a publishing masterclass disguised as a weather report.
MINI TOOL: THE EXPERT’S TRAFFIC LIGHT TEST
Here’s a quick diagnostic I use with new clients:
Red: I have no book or assets, but I know I need them.
Amber: I’ve written something, but I don’t know what to do with it.
Green: I’m leveraging my IP across my site, slides, sales, and strategy.
Where are you right now?
Where should you be?
DISASTER FARM UPDATE
We’ve had no rain for years. Then five days of sideways, biblical flooding.
The horses have decided the paddock is lava.
The goose bit the hosepipe. Again.
Honestly, it’s like running a publishing company inside a weather simulator.
AUTHOR NEWS
Three of our books (and four authors) have just been shortlisted for the Business Book Awards 2025.
Proof that good books get noticed — but only if you write them, finish them, and submit them. Good luck to:
Dr Emma Williams with Leaving Academia: Ditch the blanket, take the skills
David Pullan & Sarah Jane McKechnie with The DNA of Engagement: A story-based approach to building trust and influencing change
And to Adam Samuel, with Compliance: A short book
(Moral: You can’t win awards for the book still in your head.)
